Instead of Spending on Festivities, This Bride Decided to Honour Her Teachers on Her Wedding Day

Nishadbanu Vajifdhar, a 22-year-old woman from Haldharu village in Gujarat, found a wonderful way to honour all the teachers who have taught her right from primary school till college.

Not only has she set a great example for many others to follow, but has also inspired young people in the village to pursue higher education.

Nishadbanu is the daughter of a farmer. She just completed her MCA course, and got married to Rameez Mohmmad, an MBA graduate from the same village. While making arrangements for her marriage that was scheduled for January 10, Nishadbanu decided that she will not spend a lot of money on food, decorations and other festivities, but will instead use the money in a way that can inspire young people in her village to go for higher education.

On her wedding eve, she felicitated all the teachers who have taught her from nursery. She felicitated 75 retired teachers from the village with a memento and shawl. And many young people who have completed their higher education were also honoured.

“In our village, the level of education is very low. My father too wants everyone to be properly educated. So, I decided to spend the money on felicitating those who taught me from nursery to MCA. We will also donate money to institutions that made me an educated human being,” she told The Times of India.

Her family donated Rs. 10 lakh to schools where she completed her primary and secondary education. Pakhu Patel Vidyalaya in Haldharu and Shantaram Bhatt English medium school located in Mota, a nearby village, also received donations. Her husband and her entire family supported Nishadbanu in this decision.
