1. One With Nature – Bengaluru

Karnataka Forest Department Training Institute in Whitefield is conducting One Day Nature Appreciation workshop. The aim of the workshop is to help attendees understand, experience, explore and appreciate nature around us. You will need to register for the event. More details here.

2. Talk – Greening Bangalore – Bengaluru

Bangalore International Centre (A TERI Initiative), cordially invites you to a Talk on Greening of Bangalore, by V R Thiruvady, Trustee, Bangalore Environment Trust and Director, Camvid Engineering & Marketing Services.

About the Talk

Bangalore is home to a large variety of trees, plants and shrubs. Although many trees have been cut down for widening of roads and real estate development, Bangalore is still blessed with large planted areas thanks to the Defence Establishments, Public Sector Enterprises and of course Lalbagh and Cubbon Parks.

Vijay Thiruvady will trace the greening of Bangalore from early days and talk about individuals and institutions involved in the development of Bangalore as a Garden City.

3. Raahgiri Day – Hyderabad

4. Traditional Shadow Puppetry Of South India – Chennai

Dr. R. Bhanumathi, an environmental educationist with more than 30 years experience and deep involvement in the art of puppetry. She has done her doctoral research on the ‘Status of Shadow Puppetry and Puppeteers of South India’. She is presently the Managing Trustee, Pavai Centre for Puppetry, a Chennai based charitable trust dedicated to the art of Puppetry. Pavai organizes and conducts various puppet based projects for children, teachers, volunteers, animators, and others. Her talk will cover different facets of traditional shadow puppetry including geographical distribution, preparation of puppets, performances and status of puppeteers. More details.

5. RedMyLips – Gurgaon

This is an annual global awareness campaign against sexual violence and offences, where supporters (both men and women) wear red all throughout April – Sexual Assault Awareness Month – to raise awareness and funds. Women use red lipstick to create visibility, combat rape myths and victim-blaming to demonstrate solidarity and support for survivors. Men can support and create awareness regarding this event by wearing red ribbon, scarf, shirt, cap, socks, shoes etc. More details.

When: 26th April
Where: Raahgiri platform in Gurgaon.
