How A Group of Alert Bikers Saved a Woman from Being Abducted in Delhi

The presence of mind of a group of bikers, coupled with swift action by the police helped save a young woman who had been abducted by a group of three men in Mangolpuri, Delhi, on Saturday.

The group of youngsters were eating at a dhaba, when they heard a woman’s frantic call for help coming from a Hyundai Accent, which zoomed past them near Begumpur Chowk.

Without wasting a second, the biker gang alerted the police and started following the car.

“Within 10 minutes, a police team from a picket also joined the hot chase and both the youths and the cops together forced the driver of the car to pull over. As soon as the car stopped, the woman jumped out and was rescued,” the officer told DNA.

Following a tussle between them, the biker group was able to nab two of the accused, while one managed to escape. Infuriated by the incident, the onlookers in the area vandalised the car used by the abductors and set it on fire. It was only after the police intervened that the crowd dispersed.

According to police officials, the young woman had known one of the accused men previously, and he had offered her a lift in his car on her way back home from work. It was only after she entered the car did she realise that there were two other men inside.

After travelling for a short while, things started to get ugly. They began molesting the woman and rolled up the windows when she screamed for help.

“We have registered a case of abduction and of trying to disrobe a woman under Section 354B. The men were locals,” DCP (Outer) M N Tiwari said.

While the police have arrested the two accused, the search for the third person is currently underway. The burnt vehicle has been handed over to the Fire department as evidence.

Thanks to the brave intervention by the biker gang, the young woman was able to get out of the situation unhurt.
