Transcript:

A lack of urinals near his school in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, and the sight of water-cans at a grocery store was all it took for Subik Pandian from class 8 to put two & two together. He came up with the idea of using 20-ltr water cans as urinals and eliminate the stench that rose from near his school. Along with a team of students & a teacher, he came up with a design. The can was carefully cut and inverted and then fitted with PVC pipes to drain out the waste.

All done within a budget of Rs 1,000! The children’s design was implemented in four areas around the school
The design also won them a ‘design for change’ award along with a cash prize.

Putting young ideas to good use!
