Transcript:
Sonam Wangchuk introduced a simple solution to water wastage that happens during the winter and water shortage that happens during the summer. Artificial glaciers! These self-building structures collect and store wasted water from streams in the form of ‘ice-stupas’. The stupas are geometrically shaped in a way that they don’t melt until late spring. The Himalayan glaciers are disappearing due to global warming and pollution. Farmers in the area, hence faced water shortage. These ‘ice stupas’ are Ladakh’s own way of water harvesting
