Delhi Govt to Introduce new App that will make the use of DTC Buses and Auto Rickshaws Easy

The mobile app is an initiative that will give an incentive to people to use public transport and will provide information regarding the bus services in NCR.
Under the plans to streamline the public transport sector which include integrating bus, metro and auto-rickshaw services, the State government will soon introduce a mobile app that will provide information on the exact schedule, location and seat availability of DTC buses and details required to hire autorickshaws.

The app is under testing and will be launched soon. It will benefit a great number of people as Delhi has about 4,800 DTC buses and 84,000 auto-rickshaws. The Delhi Transport corporation has 40 lakh commuters for its total buses which are around 6,000.

The app will enable passengers to check frequency, route details and arrival time of buses remotely. The app is in addition to other plans in store for the transport sector, which also include the purchase of 10,000 new buses and a common card that will be applicable to metros, autos and buses.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said to The Times of India,”For making the city congestion and pollution-free, we need a better public transport system. Keeping this in mind, we have developed a mobile application through which commuters can get details of location, seat availability and schedule of DTC and Cluster buses plying in Delhi.”

The budget set aside for the transport sector in the state is nearly 5,000 crores, which will make all the above plans possible. The amount is 23% higher than the share of transport last year.
