Green Corridor Helps Airlift Critically Ill 6-Month Old From Guwahati to Delhi!
On an average, the distance takes over 90 minutes to cover owing to the traffic. But when the police, public and local television channels joined hands, the ambulance carrying the child reached the airport in less than 26 minutes.
Hailing from Biswanath Chariali in upper Assam, six-month-old Snigdharaag Bhuyan, suffers from a rare infection of the lung and spinal cord and was in need of immediate medical assistance.
It was a rare sight to see one of Guwahati’s busiest traffic routes come to a halt for over 30 minutes on Sunday, to allow the ambulance carrying him to move fast and airlift the critically ill boy to Delhi for treatment.
This green corridor was set up from Pratiksha Hospital on VIP Road to the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, a 45 km stretch.

The air ambulance left Guwahati airport at 11:50 am and is expected to reach Delhi airport within four hours, reported the Hindustan Times.
Snigdharaag who was kept on ventilation at Pratiksha Hospital for more than two months has been finally flown to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, for advanced treatment.
“Since it was a genuine case that needed our intervention, we had appealed to the public to cooperate. It was a relief to see people responding well and allowing the child to get airlifted within minutes of leaving the hospital,” Guwahati police commissioner, Hiren Chandra Nath told HT.

All of this was possible due to the earnest appeal the boy’s parents made through social media and local television channels to the public, who not only helped with funds but also ensured a safe journey to Delhi was possible.
Extending her gratitude, Snigdharaag’s mother said, “We are thankful to the public, police and the media for helping us in our time of need. I hope such steps are taken for others as well when needed.”
The Commissioner also mentioned that a green corridor is being set up to shift Snigdharaag from Indira Gandhi International Airport to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi.
Authorities hope widespread coverage of the case will help create mass awareness among pedestrians.
