1. Riya Majumdar, the founder of Goya Swim Co, uses a cutting edge technology to make sustainable swimsuits, with each piece pulling out about 29 plastic bottles directly from the ocean!
2. Fabric from discarded banana stems? Ravi Prasad’s startup in Uttar Pradesh is using banana stem fibre to create products ranging from clothes and slippers to sanitary napkins. Today, Malwa Kela Resa Utpadan Laghu Udyog Kendra earns lakhs and empowers hundreds of women.
3. Tamil Nadu Father-son duo K Sankar and Senthil Sankar are the brains behind Ecoline. Valued at Rs 100 crore, the startup transforms 15 lakh PET bottles into sustainable clothing every day, protecting the planet while uplifting thousands of ragpickers!
4. Mayura Davda-Shah’s brand Mayu uses fish scales to create sleek, textured leather. With a zero-waste-certified facility in Chennai, the brand’s creations have graced the ramps of Paris and Hungary, showcasing style with a conscience.
5. Surat’s Shreyans Kokra runs Canvaloop, a zero-waste startup that transforms pineapple, banana, and hemp waste into textile-grade fiber, using just 10 liters of water — a drastic reduction from traditional water-intensive methods.
