Proving that one can really buy anything off the internet - even trees yielding succulent mangoes!
Even if you are the kind of person who orders everything from clothes to groceries online, chances are, you have probably not ordered an entire tree off the internet. Sure, you could scoff and say that the internet is no place to buy a tree. But you would be wrong.
Because one farmer in India is trying to change all that. In fact, when summer comes, he will be delivering healthy mango trees to anybody who places the order on WhatsApp.
Mohammed Miyan, is a farmer from Mujasa village in Malihabad, a town in Lucknow district. The area is famous for being the home to some of the most succulent mangoes grown in the country.
Given how e-commerce has taken off in India in the recent years, Mohammed was struck by a brainwave – why not sell trees online?

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Mohammad notes, “If these sites can do it, why can’t I? Hence, I started nurturing mango trees around two years ago so that they can yield maximum fruits even in a portable state.”
In order to ensure the success of his unique business, Mohammad says that he only nurtured the healthiest of trees for sale. And for now he will be delivering them in Lucknow and Delhi but there are plans to expand business to nearby districts and states as well.
So, what do you get when you order a tree on WhatsApp? For starters, according to Mohammad, the trees he will deliver to your doorstep will be around two years of age and they will be able to yield about six mangoes per season. The trees during delivery will be no more than four- or five-feet high and will cost the buyer anywhere between ₹2,000 and ₹3,000
