Not only is Mysuru one of the cleanest cities in India, it will now be a cycle lover’s paradise. The city has purchased 430 cycles that will soon be rented out to people on an hourly basis.
The initiative, which is being called Trin Trin, has been launched to encourage people to lead fit lifestyles while also embracing green living. According to authorities, the cycles will be placed in strategic places across the city.
All one has to do to avail the services is to register for a smart card online.

Speaking to Business Standard, V J Ravikumar, mayor of Mysuru, said, “The idea is to encourage more people and tourist to use bicycle. It is cheap and environmentally friendly. Mysuru is already India’s cleanest city, this is one more step taken to ensure that that title remains. We want to promote more people to use the cycles that is the reason we have kept first 30 minutes free.”
The service will see an official launch in about two months. People can choose from various membership options that range from just renting out bicycles for a few hours to getting oneself a subscription lasting a year. Docking stations are to be placed in areas like train stations, bus terminals, tourist spots and more.

The programme is being funded by the World Bank, under its Global Environment Facility grant and reportedly costs Rs 20.5 crore.
So, the next time you find yourself in the picturesque city, ditch the car and take up a cycle. The planet will thank you for it.
