Are you a vintage car lover? Or an aerospace enthusiast? Are you interested in knowing about the evolution of transport in India? Then you are in for a treat because there is a museum especially for you.

The Heritage Transportation Museum, spread over three acres in Gurgaon (Gurugram), is a one-of-its kind museum that showcases the evolution of India’s transportation – you get to learn about the history of vintage cars, trucks and planes.

Considered to be one of the largest private museums in India, The Heritage Transportation Museum is the brainchild of Tarun Thakral. The museum has over 75 vintage cars and classic cars on display. Also there is a designated section that shows the timeline of transportation, beginning with the story of the invention of the wheel. Bullock carts, horse carriages, camel carts are also on display.

The aviation section of the museum talks about the history and growth of the aviation industry in India. Early models of aircrafts used in India are also showcased in this section. Also on display is the Piper J3C Cub Aircraft from the 1940s.

Another section talks about the evolution of early two-wheelers in India.

The museum also hosts various art exhibitions and has a library and research centre with over 1000 books on art, design and technology.

There is a separate section dedicated to contemporary art. In addition, the museum has a designated space for a historical collection of old lithographs, engravings and vintage road maps of India.

The museum also organises school sessions that provide a learning environment, while being fun and entertaining.
