Couple Turn Hemp Seed Oil Into The Ultimate Solution For Skin Care Problems!

Couple Turn Hemp Seed Oil Into The Ultimate Solution For Skin Care Problems!

For Harshaavardhan and Namrata Reddy Sirupa, it was their son’s chapped and dry skin that got them thinking about a permanent solution for his skin problems.

“We tried all kinds of natural creams and oils, nothing seemed to be working. That’s when the mention of hemp seed oil came up,” explains Namrata.

Harshaavardhan, who previously worked with a company that was researching cures for prostate cancer had come across the medicinal value of cannabis and knew that hemp oil could make a significant change in the field of personal care.

The Properties of Hemp Seed Oil

The Hemp Seed oil contains many fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, 21 amino acids including 9 essential amino acids and other nutrients that are beneficial and essential to the wellness of the body, especially for skin, hair and scalp.

The oil is extracted mainly from the seeds of the Industrial Hemp plant. Most people, however, easily confuse the hemp plant with marijuana; the latter with a controversial reputation. While Industrial Hemp is scientifically classified as cannabis, it does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which has intoxicating properties.

Hemp seeds are rich in fatty acids Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9. Fatty acids are important for all systems to make sure that our body functions normally, including our hair, skin, circulatory system, brain and organs ensuring the well – being of your entire body. These fatty acids also have very strong preventive and curative qualities. The Omega 3 and 6 acids, termed essential fatty acids (EFA) are not produced naturally in your body. However, Omega 9 is a non-essential fatty acid produced naturally by the body whenever there is enough of Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acid.

Seeing the Potential in Hemp Seed

“Hemp seed oil is extremely nutritious and the best part is that it can provide solutions for all your skincare problems. We mixed hemp seed oil along with carrier oils like coconut for our son and it worked wonders. That’s when we thought about creating a range of personal care products with hemp seed oil.” says Namrata.

“After almost five years of research on the benefits and effects of hemp, we launched our brand—Satliva. We create soaps, creams and oils with a hemp seed oil as base and ensure that we avoid fragrances, harmful chemicals, preservatives or colouring. For the same reason, most of our products are of the same colour.” she adds.

Based in Bengaluru, the couple initially found the Namrata Hemp Company (NHCO) in 2016 with an aim to create a non-polluting and safe hemp eco-system. This later on expanded into the personal care range, Satliva.

Satliva sources all the raw materials and the hemp seeds from local farmers from the foothills of the Himalayas.

“We make sure that all our products are sourced locally, this way the products are of the best quality and we can also empower the farmers of that region,” explains Namrata, “It was initially quite hard to make people understand the difference between marijuana and hemp. But now people have understood the nutritional value of Hemp and are more open to trying it out.”

“Scientists are now exploring the possibility of hemp being a cure for cancer. This could open up an entirely new arena for hemp,” she adds.

To preserve and derive the benefits of the natural ingredients entirely, Satliva extracts the Hemp seed oil only when an order is placed.

The brand is currently researching and developing hemp oil-based toothpaste, mouthwashes and shaving creams. More power to the Hemp we say!
