Nitin Chordia, the first certified chocolate taster from India shares that he does not like most chocolates he tastes here! It’s not just about the sweetness or texture but the blending of different ingredients that forms the essence of the chocolate.
Nitin and his wife Poonam, who is also a certified chocolate taster, are on a mission to make chocolates healthy and prove all our moms wrong!

“The problem that our generation has inherited is the assumption that healthy food cannot be tasty! When I started my chocolate exploration journey five years ago, I was determined to find the middle path,” Nitin shares with The Better India.
He realised that a majority of the chocolate produced in India contains milk or other dairy products. And Nitin and Poonam want to show you that this decadent delight can be so much more than just another sweet handed to you in pretty packages.

The chocolate-tasting duo began their brand as a way to show that your guilty pleasure can also be sustainable and diverse.
Bar-to-bean chocolate is prepared from scratch and Kocoatrait scrutinises each ingredient that goes into it. “Milk (or any dairy ingredient) when added to cocoa nullifies the body’s capacity to absorb the antioxidants available in it. Using dairy products in chocolate is a bad idea for us. Hence we decided that we shall make only make vegan varieties.”
The couple also decided not to add any vegetable fat/oils. And as opposed to sugar or chemical-based sugar-free products, Kocoatrait use healthy alternatives like jaggery, dry fruits, coconut sugar or stevia in their bars.
