Every Indian home prepares for Diwali in different ways, and mine is no different.
On the first day, my family wakes up before dawn, to the whiff of tea being prepared. Soon, my Aai gives everyone her annual body massage using an oil which is specially purchased for the occasion, and it is washed off by sandalwood powder.
As the festival of lights comes closer, it is time that we pamper ourselves and switch up the hair and skin routine, just a bit. Keeping this in mind, we have curated just the set you need, and the best part is that every product is under Rs 350!
1) Hibiscus and Bhringraj hair oil
When used on hair, hibiscus and bhringraj (or false daisy) are known to have excellent properties—they slow down greying, make them healthy and enhance their volume.
Begin your Diwali celebrations with a nice, strong champi with this hair oil, which brings the best of both these plants into one.
2) A traditional Diwali shikakai hair wash
Known to battle dandruff and cleanse your scalp effectively, Shikakai has been a part of Indian households since ancient times.
This year, skip the shampoo and opt for the wonderful goodness of the Ayurvedic herb, with this Shikakai Hair Cleanser, that is a steal at Rs 200. Mix one part of the powder with four parts of water in a mug. Whisk it to form a lather and use it to shampoo your hair.
3) Henna powder as a natural colourant
Wondering if you should colour those greys and let your lustrous lair loose?
Well, this Diwali, let your hair colour also condition your hair, and cleanse off the dust and pollution. This pack of two henna powders, at Rs 220, is free of harmful chemicals that damage your hair and the henna will also nourish your scalp!
4) Have a cold-pressed massage this Diwali
This festive season, let the goodness of this almond massage oil nourish your skin, optimise blood flow.
This cold-pressed oil is suitable for all adult skin types and is baby skin-friendly too (although we suggest you do a patch test).
5) Multani mitti to scrub the stress from your face
Remove the dust and pollution particles that have made your pores their home, and make your skin glow brighter than a diya with multani mitti (fullers earth) powder.
Keep it simple and mix the powder with rose water or go a step ahead and add honey, milk, or lime juice for that extra radiance. Apply the pack on your face and neck, let it dry and wash off with an all-natural face wash.
6) The final touch of sandalwood to soothe your skin this Diwali
After all the massage and scrubbing, your skin needs to relax. Wash off the oil gently with this pack of two sandal soaps for Rs 272, which will leave a lingering aroma on your skin. The soaps are free of paraben and the packaging, free of plastic.
7) A facewash to leave your skin refreshed
Almonds, alum, Multani mitti, neem, orange peels, turmeric—six of the most amazing and nourishing ingredients that fight acne, cleanse your pores, nourish your skin and leave you refreshed.
At just Rs 330, this rejuvenating all-natural face wash is a must this Diwali.
