Gurdeep Singh from Sonepat, Haryana, is an Executive Officer in Export Credit Guarantee Corporation in India.

“I had always dreamed of serving my country through a government job. Just when I was looking for coaching classes to clear my entrance exams, I came across a YouTube channel with videos that explained complicated concepts in a straightforward manner,” he says.

Gurdeep is one of the thousands of students who have benefited from Dinesh Miglani’s YouTube videos.

A resident of Rohtak, Dinesh completed his LLB and LLM from Delhi University. After practising law for a year, he decided to become a tutor.

Living in different cities like Gwalior, Delhi and Jabalpur, Dinesh took private tuitions for 13 years before permanently moving to and settling in Rohtak.

Until 2015, he was like any regular tutor who would help his students crack tough competitive exams like CAT, MBA, SSC, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, Government Job Exams, CLAT, Hotel Management and Civil Services.

Then, one of his students from Rohtak informed him that she would not be attending his classes anymore. This is because the classes for the State Public Service Commission were conducted in the evening, and concerned about her safety, her parents forbade her to attend them.

That message pushed Dinesh to come up with an alternative, and so he launched his YouTube channel ‘Dinesh Miglani Tutorials.’

Dinesh has 1,000+ videos on his channel

Today, Dinesh has 1,000+ videos on his channel, more than 4.34 lakh subscribers and over 1.04 crore views.

Speaking exclusively to The Better India (TBI), he says,

Several girls were not able to attend my classes. Besides, many students could not afford the high rates of private coaching classes. Initially, I would help such students by sharing my notes over WhatsApp or email. But, I wanted to do something more concrete, so I started a YouTube channel. The best part is that I got a chance to be part of the tech-savvy generation.

Dinesh’s very first video on ‘Best tricks for Factorial Number System’ got over 62,000 views within a week of the upload. A number of people from across the country thanked him and told Dinesh to teach different concepts.

Thanks a ton, sir. You explained it really well, and I absorbed with ease. Great videos sir. Keep making these type of videos, reads one of the comments.

To ensure that students from all parts of the country understand his videos, he uses Hindi and English as the language of communication.

While he teaches subjects like Math, reasoning, General Knowledge and English, his wife, Suchitra Miglani, uploads lectures on language subjects like English and Spanish.

The couple also engages in an interactive session through YouTube live sessions that take place from Monday to Friday between 8 PM to 9 PM.

Like Gurdeep Singh, Rishika Revo was also looking for coaching classes to clear her entrance exams.

I have always been a little weak in Math. For nearly six months I watched Dinesh’s videos on Math to prepare for my TISS entrance and was able to get into my desired course of study. I am not only thankful for the videos, but for eliminating my fear towards Math, she says.

These are just two examples. Over the last four years, Dinesh has impacted the lives of thousands of students.

From emails, WhatsApp messages to phone calls, I get a lot of feedback and appreciation messages from my students. The feedback has helped me improve the quality of videos, and the messages have only encouraged me to do my best in every session, concludes the 38-year-old.
