A resident of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, Shatabdi grew up with dreams of joining the armed forces.
Think ‘Shatabdi’ and the first word that is likely to pop into your head is speed. The protagonist of our story ‘Shatabdi Avasthi’ has encountered many hurdles and managed to tide over each one with much grit and determination.
As India gears up to celebrate its 72nd Independence Day, stories like these must be told and celebrated.

A resident of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, Shatabdi grew up with dreams of joining the armed forces. However, life had different plans for her. She met with an accident, which took away her mobility from the waist below.
Not one to give up easily, Shatabdi started studying and gave the banking examination in 2010, which she cleared in her first attempt.

After being on the bed for more than ten years, taking up sports was nothing short of a challenge. In the very first state-level tournament that she participated in, she won three gold medals. That was just the beginning for this amazing lady.
Since then Shatabdi has represented India in various international athletic meets.

A video on her struggles and triumphs has been beautifully put together by The Binoculars Club, which comprises a team of enthusiasts who make short films, documentaries, travelogues and spoken words.

While it is very easy to give up when life seems tough, stories like these not just motivate us but also help us move forward.
