Maharaja Express Goes South! Explore the Southern Jewels on Indian Railways’ Luxury Train

The tour will cover some of the most coveted tourist spots in southern India like Chettinad, Mahabalipuram, Mysuru, Hampi and Goa.

Behold the Southern Jewels, the latest addition to tour circuits of the Maharajas’ Express!

The Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) announced the launch of Southern Jewels on Friday.

Covering some of the most coveted tourist spots in southern India like Chettinad, Mahabalipuram, Mysuru, Hampi and Goa, the tour will conclude with the final stop in Mumbai.

“The luxury tour, aimed at the premium segment, will commence from Trivandrum on July 1 and culminate in Mumbai on July 8,” IRCTC Group General Manager S.S. Jagannathan said, according to Mumbai Mirror.

Accommodating about 88 guests, the 23-coach Maharajas’ Express, touted to offer one of the finest luxury travel experiences in India, is well equipped with state-of-the-art features that include on-board water filtration plants, spacious cabin sizes with two bar-cum-lounges as well as two restaurants.

“The duration of the journey is eight days and seven nights,” Jagannathan added.
