UP Woman Turns a 100-YO House Into A Dreamy Homestay in Manali

#thebetterindia

Looking for the perfect place to see snowfall in Himachal?

Shaila Siddiqui transformed a 100-year-old house into this dreamy homestay in Old Manali.

Born in a conservative family in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, Shaila had a tough childhood.

At 22, her father began forcing her to marry, so she fled from home to build a new life.

Working hard, she built a successful corporate career but felt that something was still missing.

She found it in Old Manali, in an abandoned Kathkuni house that she fell in love with.

Shaila left her corporate job and began rebuilding the house, dedicating all her time and resources.

Rebuilt with stones, wood, mud and cow dung, Shaila’s safe haven is now a unique homestay, away from the crowds of touristy Manali.

It is also a shelter for 12 cute street dogs!

As for Shaila, she doesn’t need to find new escapes anymore. She has finally found her place and her peace.
