  1. Greater Flamingo- Phoenicopterus roseus

Common in saline lagoons, salt pans, estuaries & large saline or alkaline lakes in Gujarat, Flamingoes attain their shades of orange & pink only in their adulthood, because of a natural pink dye called Canthaxanthin that they obtain from their diet of brine shrimp and blue-green algae.

  1.      Starling- Sturnus vulgaris

With a broad range of non-mountainous habitats, they are known to mimic the calls of over 20 different species of birds.

  1.      Wagtails -Motacilla flava

Found in rushy pastures, meadows, hay fields & marshes, the wagtail got it’s name accidentally after scholars misinterpreted its Latin meaning of ‘Motare’ & ‘cilla’  as ‘moving’ & ‘tail’.

  1. Peregrine Falcon- Falco peregrinus

This bird thrives in almost any open-space environment, including some cities. It is the fastest flying bird with a record-holding speed of 390 km/h.

5 .        Pacific golden plover- Pluvialis fulva
