Another potential train mishap was averted in the country – thanks to one loco pilot’s alertness!
The Chennai-bound Pinakini Express had left from Vijayawada on Monday morning and was heading to Sunduru railway station sometime around 6.40 am when the man had observed that approaching rail track was cracked.
Without wasting a second, he applied the brakes immediately and managed to bring the train to a grinding halt. He also alerted the engineering staff in the meantime.
Despite the motorman hitting the brakes almost immediately, some of the coaches had already crossed the damaged track.
The repair team arrived quickly, and within 90 minutes, they were able to fix the rail breakage, and the train was on back on its track by 8.15 am.
