Another potential train mishap was averted in the country – thanks to one loco pilot’s alertness!
The Chennai-bound Pinakini Express had left from Vijayawada on Monday morning and was heading to Sunduru railway station sometime around 6.40 am when the man had observed that approaching rail track was cracked.
Without wasting a second, he applied the brakes immediately and managed to bring the train to a grinding halt. He also alerted the engineering staff in the meantime.

Despite the motorman hitting the brakes almost immediately, some of the coaches had already crossed the damaged track.

According to the Times of India, the South Central Railway authorities commended the motorman’s quick action that ended up saving hundreds of lives.
They also mentioned that though rail breakage is more common than is believed, especially after a change in weather, it is the duty of loco pilots to report such glitches.
