Those making summer holiday plans will be booking railway tickets in a hurry. Some might even make the error of booking the wrong boarding station. Earlier, getting the station changed would be quite the nightmare. However, the IRCTC has a solution, which will allow you to change your boarding destination, without much hassle.

In cases where you have already booked your ticket, you can log on to your IRCTC accounts and change the boarding station, if need be. This facility is only available for online bookings, not for tickets booked physically at stations.

If you wish to change your boarding destinations, you can do so online, up to around 24 hours before your scheduled journey. In case you have changed your original boarding station, there is no way to revert to it.

If you for any reason, you forget to carry documentation showing the changes, you would have to pay a heavy fine.

Here’s what you should know:-
Change of boarding station is possible only once.
You can change the boarding station 24 hours before the scheduled journey.
You cannot change your boarding station if your ticket is seized.
PNRs with VIKALP option cannot alter their boarding station.
Only online bookings are eligible for boarding station changes.

Here’s how you can go about altering your boarding point:-
Log on to the IRCTC website with your login ID and password.
Go to your Booking Ticket History.
Click on “Change Boarding Point”.
Select the new boarding destination from the drop-down menu.
