The IRCTC has been quietly moving towards digitalisation, with the completion of its PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliance, last month. After integrating its online ticketing platform, e-catering portal and tourism platform, it plans to offer its payment gateway services to other state and central departments, according to media reports.

The payment gateway is internally being called ‘Ipay’ and will be presented once testing is completed. The IRCTC plans to use the gateway along with the others, phasing out the latter slowly.

The back-end support will be provided by Delhi and Bengaluru based MMAD communications, which is the IRCTC’s technology partner.

Recently, the IRCTC tied up with Ola, enabling IRCTC customers to now not only book, train tickets, meals and tourism packages on the IRCTC website and app but also book an Ola cab. Read more about that here.
