How a Heroic Labrador in Bengaluru Fought Armed Robbers to Save His Human

An adorable and brave Labrador, courageously fought off armed robbers to save his human in Bengaluru.

No, we aren’t lifting a plot from a movie.

We are talking about an actual incident that took place in Bengaluru on March 8.

A professor, who wishes to keep his identity anonymous,  stepped out of his house early in the morning to pick up milk for the family. Leo, his one-and-half-year-old Lab, of course wanted to follow his human on the errand. Thinking nothing of it, the professor allowed Leo to follow him behind his scooter.

Except the happy duo’s excursion came to an end when they were cut off by a car with armed men with intent to rob. One of the men had a sword, another had a machete, and they demanded that the professor give them any valuables in his possession. Including the gold ornaments that he had been wearing at the time, the professor had on him at least ₹5 lakh worth of possessions.

Just as he was about to hand over his gold chain, Leo stepped in to the rescue.

Bangalore Mirror, which reported the story, quoted the professor as saying, “I told them they could have whatever they wanted, just don’t hurt me. But just as I was taking off the chain, I saw Leo pounce upon the man who held the weapon to my throat.”

Leo’s attack threw the men off guard and gave the professor a chance to  immediately make his escape. As Leo stayed behind to take on the three men, the professor quickly ran into a house to call his son for help. By the time his son reached the scene of the crime in a car, Leo was standing alone by the scooter having successfully scared away the goons.

But the story doesn’t end here.

The loyal dog refused to leave the site or the scooter as he couldn’t see the professor anywhere around. He had to be forced into the car only to find the professor waiting for him safe and sound. And it was then that Leo heaved a sigh of relief and, quite possibly, a bark of relaxation.

All things said and done, the world can certainly agree that Leo is a good boy and certainly deserves a treat.
