For the Railways, you, the passenger, have always been the top priority. Hence, it is little wonder that all Railway initiatives are based on passenger feedback. For safety and security, a panic button for women was installed, and for transparency in billing onboard POS machines were introduced.

This initiative is to collect real-time feedback during your journey. And for this, the Railways has got a Train Captain, reports the Economic Times.

Babul Dey of Tinsukia Division was the first such Train Captain, onboard the Dibrugarh-New-Delhi Rajdhani Express.

According to Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NF Railways, the Train Captain will be the overall in-charge of the train and will be responsible for ensuring that all amenities are provided to the passengers on behalf of the Railways.

He will also be responsible for coordinating with onboard teams dealing with housekeeping, catering, electrical, mechanical and RPF/GRP squads, throughout the train journey.

Look out for the Train Captain, he will be wearing a badge, and all onboard personnel from the Railways as well as outsourced agencies will have to report to him. The Train Captain’s contact number and name will be printed on the reservation chart.
