Son of a Govt School Cook, Chhattisgarh Boy Scores 90% in the IIT-JEE Mains!

Balmukund Paikra, a resident of Jashpur district in Chhattisgarh, has cleared the IIT JEE Mains, scoring 90%.

Balmukund’s story is a bit different from that of an average IIT aspirant – his father is a government school cook who earns about Rs 40 a day. Having lived in extreme poverty all his life, Balmukund studied at a government-run free coaching centre–Sankalp Shikshan Sansthan.

A report in the Business Standard quoted Balmukund as saying, “The teachers here are very good. I was able to learn a lot. My dream is now to become an engineer. I wish that everyone should become successful in life.”

Balmukund has made his father and teachers proud of his achievement. This only goes to prove that what one needs to succeed are will and dedication.

Sankalp Shikshan Sansthan is a government-run coaching centre. It offers free coaching services for meritorious students who belong to financially weaker sections of the society. More than 70 students from this coaching centre have managed to clear the Joint Entrance Exams with a good score.

In a report published in NDTV, Mukesh, one of Balmukund’s teachers, said, “The students are sincere and devote their time to studying. They know the value of every second they spend here.”

Dr Priyanka Shukla, the District Collector of Jashpur, has also been praised due to the extra attention she gave to the Sankalp Shikshan Sansthan, and that tree is now bearing fruits. While the students have worked hard, we must also mention the contribution of the committed and hardworking teachers. In addition to their sincere efforts, they also attend specialised training programmes that enable them to deliver high-quality lessons to students.

In another story we brought to you, we wrote about Taranpreet Kaur, the daughter of a farmer who scored a whopping 99.4 percent in her class 10 CBSE examinations. With limited means, Taranpreet managed to achieve these scores.

You can read all about it here.

These students are a testimony to what can be achieved through hard work even though resources may be limited.
