Love Alia Bhatt’s Movies? How About Taking a Cue From Her Zero-Plastic Pledge!

In a time when plastic waste is polluting our environment to the point of no return, it takes a lot of effort to consciously make the call to change deeply-ingrained habits for the sake of our planet. People sometimes need a push from an influential figure, and who better to do this, than a popular actor!

Besides flooring the audience and critics alike with her stellar performances, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has now donned a new role—that of a waste warrior!

While the young actress is already a self-proclaimed environmentalist, she recently took the pledge to ban plastic entirely from her life and also passed on the message to all her followers, strongly urging them to consider making the switch.

For a youth icon who is popular and has a great fan following, this step is indeed heartening as it has the scope to inspire many people across the country and follow in the footsteps of their icon.

In India, unlike anywhere else in the world, movie stars enjoy a god-like reverence from their fans and followers. From fervently looking forward to their films to following tiny details of their lives, the Indian public looks up to their favourite actors and celebrities, and many go to a great extent to emulate their traits and habits.

While celebrities have often faced enormous flak for negatively influencing the youth, Alia, thanks to this recent initiative, has indeed set a precedent, by being a socially and environmentally responsible citizen.

It is not just Alia who has taken such a step. Lately, many actors and celebrities in the film industry, like Juhi Chawla, Dia Mirza, and Milind Soman, have been undertaking similar eco-friendly initiatives, and one hopes that they end up motivating a large number of people to switch to a more environment-friendly way of living.

As much as we appreciate the rising star for her conscious decision, we also hope that her fans follow her lead, and decide to purge plastic from their lives.
