Cop by Day, Teacher by Night: How This Jharkhand Cop Is Bringing Some Much-Needed Change

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pramod Paswan walks into a classroom at the Madhya Vidyalaya, Hatiapada, with books in his hand. He is currently serving at the East Singhbhum Gudabanda Police Station in Jharkhand and doubles up as a mathematics teacher after his duty hours.

This region is known to be a hotbed for Naxal activities.

Pramod goes beyond the call of duty to teach the kids in this school.

Given the unrest that this region faces, schools and education systems are severely lacking.

Speaking to ANI News, he says, “Whatever knowledge we have, we try to give that to students as they lack in education. Whenever I get the time, I come here and teach them. If every child in this region is educated, then I am sure that the problem of Naxalism will be wiped out.”

In a video that has been posted on YouTube, Pramod is seen teaching the students the concept of BODMAS, which he believes will help them solve mathematical problems quickly and efficiently.

At The Better India, we have covered stories of many police officers working tirelessly to make a difference. Another police officer who received a lot of appreciation from the online community is traffic policeman from Hyderabad, B Gopal.

Gopal has been in service for a decade and is currently posted at the Kukkatpally station. He found an old woman lying by the road and with the temperatures in Hyderabad touching almost 40*C, the old lady lay there, exhausted.

Gopal bought her breakfast and ensured that he fed it to her and then proceeded to take her to a shelter home where she is currently staying.
