Turns out that some heroes may not wear capes but certainly do drive auto rickshaws.
Varijashree Venugopal was quite possibly having one of the worst days of her life. Varijashree, who was on the way for her Visa interview, found out she was running low on cash. She needed a total of ₹5,000 to pay during her interview but she only had ₹2,000 on her.
Despite checking for cash in 15 different ATMs, she came up empty handed as none of them were dispensing any money. Running out of choices, she even tried her luck at local stores, begging them to swipe in their debit/credit card machines and give her the cash she needed, but her efforts were in vain.
That’s when she had someone unexpected step in to help her in her moment of need.
Watching her struggle to put together funds for her interview, the driver of the auto rickshaw she was travelling in, immediately stepped forward to lend her his own savings to cover the costs of the interview. He gave her ₹3,000 only noting, “Madam aap isko use karlo aur baad mein hotel ke paas vapas kardo, koi baat nahin (madam, use this money now and later you can return it near the hotel. It’s not an issue).”
Varijashree later took to Facebook to recall her incredible tale and expressed gratitude towards “baba” who showed her the real meaning of humanity. She writes, “I was overwhelmed by his act of kindness and was full of gratitude for this man that I never met before.”

This is Baba, an auto driver in Hyderabad. Baba saved my day. I was here for a visa interview, and short of cash by a couple of thousands. I needed around 5000 for the visa fees and had just 2000 and odd. We visited about 10 to 15 ATM centres, without any luck. Seemed like there was a strange problem with all ATMs in Hyderabad. I even requested a few stores with ATM machines, if they could swipe my card and give me cash, but in vain. Baba senses my helplessness and offers me 3000 out of his savings and says ‘Madam aap isko use karlo aur baad mein hotel ke paas vapas kardo, koi baat nahin’. I was overwhelmed by his act of kindness and was full of gratitude for this man that I never met before. He selflessly helped a total stranger. I was moved. Yes, God manifests in the most strangest and beautiful ways. A new life lesson learnt everyday! I am honoured to find a friend in you, Baba. Thank you for reminding me that humanity is the greatest religion of all.
