14-Year-Old Noida Student’s Cyber-Safety App Wins Google Award

Krishna Pandit, a student of Vishwa Bharati Public School, Noida is all geared up to launch Netorians, a mobile phone application that helps people keep their social media accounts safe from hackers.

The app, which is slated to be launched in April, was also awarded by Google in an online safety competition called Web Rangers, held earlier this month.

The 14-year-old’s app features voice integration and also allows users to share information and report cyber security issues.

Additionally, features like ‘Passwordian,’ ‘Savian’ and ‘Transian,’ will allow users to generate passwords, secure their existing passwords and also translate content.

“The app will help people keep their social media accounts safe so that there is no chance of hacking them. I got the idea of creating it when it came to light that even (Facebook founder) Mark Zuckerberg’s account was hacked,” Krishna, who took two months to develop the app, told Hindustan Times.

He presented the award-winning app in the second edition of the competition, and was announced as the winner on February 1. The entries were judged on the basis of creativity, impact and reach.

The students were asked to come up with ideas and create online safety programmes in the form of social campaigns, videos and applications.

The competition aimed to make people aware about internet safety and also promote digital safety.
In the future, Krishna plans to build his own startup with two of his friends, and the app will be their first product.

The winners were announced by Google India on Safer Internet Day. Apart from Krishna, the other top five national winners include Arnav Nagpal (14, Gurgaon), Ashutosh Sahni (17, Jalandhar), Nitika Gadura (13, Bengaluru) and Sarthak Gupta (13, Delhi), reported ET Telecom.
