Had a robber snatched a purse full of Rs 500 notes from someone on November 7, he would have been beside himself with joy. On November 8? Well, not so much!
In a rather shocking after-effect of the historic demonetisation of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes by the Government of India, not only did two Noida robbers return a snatched purse after finding Rs 500 notes in it, but also slapped the owner for not keeping Rs 100 notes in the purse!

Vikas Kumar, a construction worker from Greater Noida was walking towards the bus stand after finishing his work around 11 pm when the incident took place. “I was walking from the site towards the bus stand when two bike-borne men rode towards me. They snatched my purse and fled,” he told The Times of India.
There were three Rs 500 notes in Kumar’s purse. While Kumar was still taking stock of the situation and deciding whether to report the matter to the police or not, the robbers, to his surprise, returned and handed his purse back to him in frustration. They also slapped him for not keeping Rs 100 notes in his wallet!

“They came back and threw the purse at me. Then they slapped me and said I should have carried money in Rs 100 notes,” he said.
However, the SHO of the nearest Kasna police station, Sudhir Kumar Tyagi, says he has not received any information about the incident. “We have not got any complaint in this regard. We will investigate the matter if the victim approaches us,” he told TOI.
