Rail Neer, bottled water provided by Indian Railways to train travellers, has been given ‘India’s Most Trusted Brand for 2016′ Award’, in the packaged drinking water segment, by IBC Infomedia Private Ltd.
IBC Infomedia Private Ltd. is an established business management consultant, whose parent organisation International Branding Consultant Corporation (IBCC) is based in the US.
The drinking water brand generated an income of Rs 118.48 crore for Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation(IRCTC) in 2015-16, as compared to Rs 81.03 crore in 2014-15, indicating a growth of 46.2%. The Rail Neer division at IRCTC produced 14.40 crore bottles last year.

This success came in the wake of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arresting corrupt officials in the Northern Railways who were believed to be involved in letting private firms negatively affect Rail Neer sales. IRCTC also set itself a target of producing 16 crore bottles for the year 2015-16.
There are six Rail Neer plants located at Danapur (Bihar), Nangloi (Delhi), Palur (Tamil Nadu), Ambernath (Maharashtra), Amethi (Uttar Pradesh), and Parassala (Kerala). These bottling plants have a combined capacity of producing 6.14 lakh bottles per day.
A Supreme Court order on August 11 directed railway stations and trains across the country to continue selling only Rail Neer, in a bid to boost the sales of the packaged drinking water division of IRCTC.
