Divith Rai, a student of Class 8 sent an SMS to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara when he came to know that four teachers of his school were being transferred. Divith is the student of Government Model Upper Primary School in Haradi village of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka. His concerned message had an effect and the state government revoked the transfer on Thursday.
“I’m the home minister of my school council. Can I speak to you for five minutes?” Divith wrote in the message.

To his surprise, the minister called him and listened to him patiently. Divith requested him to cancel the transfer orders because he felt it would have a negative impact on the performance of many students. The minister assured positive action and later, Dinesh Aminmattu, the Chief Minister’s media advisor called his mother informing that the education minister had taken suitable action.
“I appreciate the boy’s concern and timely action of drawing the home minister’s attention. We don’t want to inconvenience students; we have decided to let the four teachers continue in the same school which has 432 students,” primary education minister Tanveer Sait told The Times of India adding that they had decided to transfer some extra teachers to a nearby school after the attendance in this school had decreased last year. Yashoda, Vijaya, Shubhalata, and Lilly D’Souza were identified as excess staff during the counselling held at the block education office.
