It’s that time of the year again when students wait with bated breath to see if months of hard-work, extra-classes, tuitions and burning the mid-night oil have paid off; it’s time for the dreaded exam results.

As the results trickle in, scenes of joyous celebration across the country will be a common sight.

Equally common but unseen will be the struggle of students who believe that they have not lived not up to expectations – either their own, or those of their parents.

Unhealthy competition, mounting pressure, fear of not getting into good colleges and the domino effect that this will have on their futures often push many students into depression or worse, even suicide. For many, this might seem like the darkest period of their young lives.

Stand-up comedian Vir Das’s message for students then is both inspiring and important. In a recently released video, Das stresses on the fact that results are only a small part of life, and that what really matters is a person’s inner strength.

‘A marksheet is someone else’s way of telling who you are, but you know yourself better than anyone so you know you’re pretty awesome!’ Das says.

In a video that went viral last year, Das highlighted the fact that results have no bearing on the best things in life.

‘Listen to the voice in your head….Nothing else…I REPEAT…NOTHING ELSE’ says the caption of the video. We couldn’t agree more.
