burst of colours, a dash of creativity and freedom of expression – Delhi’s tiny urban village, Shahpur Jat, signifies all this and much more. Often touted as the new Hauz Khas village, this tiny locality is peppered with boutiques and whimsical cafes.

St.Art India hosts street art festivals in Delhi and across the country, in a bid to make the streets come alive and allow free access for everyone to beautiful works of art.

The idea is to take a collaborative effort and spread it far and wide, inspiring more people to join the movement and appreciate art.

Shahpur Jat’s nooks and corners have come alive, thanks to enthusiastic artists who came armed with their paintbrushes and unbridled enthusiasm. You’ll be able to spot a bunch of different ideas and marvel at everything you see – from mythological creatures to portraits of children.

There is a little something in there for everyone – regardless of where they come from.

While residents originally weren’t pleased about letting artists paint on Shahpur Jat’s walls, they gave in eventually and it blossomed into something beautiful. People now can even tell you where to find specific works of art if you share the name of a building or the number of a house in the area.

The works of art are a treat for the eyes, and open to interpretation which adds to their overall appeal. They’re delightfully subjective and allow people from all walks of life to come up with their own interpretations.

There are even walking tours that have been organized in the past in Shahpur Jat, giving visitors and locals a chance to delve deep into its history and listen to colorful anecdotes.

The walls outside and inside buildings, trash cans and other surface areas – there are intriguing works of art everywhere you go. You’ll stop often and take pictures, simply because you will want to save them for later. Crane your neck and keep your eyes open, you’ll be able to spot hidden paintings if you look carefully.
