Hyderabad Police Introduce App So People Don’t Have to Carry Driving Licence & Vehicle Documents

Forgot your driving licence at home? Not a problem if you are a resident of Hyderabad because the State Road Transport Authority has developed an app to help people save digital copies of all their vehicle documents in one place. Named the RTA m-Wallet app, it lets users download digital copies of documents like driving licence, registration certificate, etc.

Once they have their documents on their smartphones, users don’t need to carry them around in physical form, as they can show the digital copies to authorities when required.

The app was launched by IT minister KT Rama Rao and transport minister P. Mahender Reddy on March 30 this year. It is available on Android and IOS platforms. Users first need to register themselves on the app using their names, email addresses and mobile numbers, which will connect them to the transport department data. On entering data like their registration numbers, driving licence numbers, dates of birth, etc., they can download all the required documents. Police and RTA authorities will accept these digital documents.

The app also gives the option to add more than one vehicle, and the documents that are downloaded once will be saved permanently. The app has been developed by a start-up called Radikal Tribe.
