A tide is rising on social media and it is going to get you. Mumbai resident Ram Subramanian, who, in October had urged the Indian and Pakistani governments to work together by way of an innovative profile picture with a strong message, is at it once again.

The recent terror attack at Pathankot, Punjab, has yet again derailed talks between both nations.

“Whenever there are peace talks between India and Pakistan, somehow terrorism rears its ugly head. What some fail to understand is that most people on both sides of the border want peace,” says Ram.

A testimony to this is the #ProfilesforPeace initiative that Ram started soon after the incident. As many as 15 lakh people from India and Pakistan have changed their profile pictures, on various social media platforms, to ones where they are holding up messages urging the governments to work together.

“If Germany, which was at war with so many countries, is now a part of the European Union with those very countries, surely India and Pakistan too can set aside their differences,” says Ram.
