How Pandal Committees & the Police Came Together to Donate Ganesha Festival Money to 6 Orphanages

Every year, various festivals invite a lot of money in the form of offerings in temples, and a part of this money is left behind after the celebrations are over. This Ganesha Chaturthi was no different. But pandal committee members and police officials in Hyderabad decided to do things differently, and went out to help over 250 kids from six orphanages with that money.

Vanasthalipuram police decided to make the most of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival by collaborating with the local pandal committees to use the money that was left after the celebration for the well-being of kids in orphanages.

The officials in this Hyderabad-based locality used that money to donate clothes, stationery items, books, shoes, sports kits and other essentials to about 250 kids from six orphanages.

The police officials held a meeting with over 30 pandal committees in September to discuss about the money that is left behind after the festival every year. About Rs. 2 lakh was collected this year, and the money was used to purchase items that were then donated to the kids on Saturday.

In addition to this, a free medical camp was also organised for them.

The orphanages that received donations include Matrushri, Siria, Geetanjali, Sidur, Gracious Paradise and The Ray of Hope.
