She gave a remarkable performance and ran 400 metres in nearly 1.50 minutes, against the upper limit of two and a half minutes.

Previously, her application was rejected since her education certificates carried her male name. She took the help of Madras High Court and officially got her name changed. After this, she got an opportunity to appear for the exams in May and finally made it to the selection process.

Prithika follows a strict routine. She gets up at 5:00 am every day to work on her fitness.

But in spite of her dedication and excellent performance on Tuesday, Prithika could not qualify the final selection on Wednesday which was a physical tests conducted at Jawarharlal Nehru stadium. After clearing the the 400-metre race, throw ball and long jump tests here, she was asked to complete a 100 meters run in 17.5 seconds or less. However, she injured her knee during this race and took 18.6 seconds to finish it. She was short of just about a second.

This is still the beginning of a movement and Prithika has opened gates for many more transgenders to follow the path they want to.
