A documentary series based on Siddhartha Mukherjee’s book has been nominated for an Emmy Award. It is a six hour long documentary based on the book, Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies. 

Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies, a documentary series based on a book by Siddhartha Mukherjee, an Indian-born American doctor, has been nominated for an Emmy Award.

The documentary is based and named after Mukherjee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies, and is among the five nominees for the award for documentary or non-fiction series.

The six hour long documentary talks about the history of the illness and scientific mysteries. It also includes personal accounts of those who have suffered from the disease. The film takes its viewers on a journey to understand the disease through interviews with experts, along with computer graphics and illustrations.

The series was aired in three parts on American TV channel PBS and stars Dr. Mukherjee himself. It has been directed by Emmy Award winning filmmaker and writer Barak Goodman.

Born in New Delhi, India, Mukherjee is currently an assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University and a staff cancer physician at Columbia University Medical Center in the US. He had also authored a book named The Laws of Medicine.
