Cartoon Network Brings Stories Of 6 Kids Who Are ‘Redrawing India’ With Impactful Actions

Prasiddhi Singh from Tamil Nadu is an example that no one is too young to dream. A natural disaster inspired her at the age of six.

“When Vardah cyclone hit Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, I saw trees fall down and animals scramble for shelter,” she says.

This ignited a spark in her to protect the environment and she went on to establish the Prasiddhi Forest Foundation in an attempt to increase the Earth’s green cover.

Now three years from this milestone, this young girl is close to the finish line of her goal of planting 1 lakh trees in India by 2022.

Sharing the same green vision is Ridhima Pandey, one of the youngest environmentalists in the country, advocating for climate change. She has also represented India at international forums, including as a member of the Youth Advisory Council for CoP 26.

Cartoon Network is celebrating the stories of these six incredible kids from across the country and encouraging the young generation of India to break the barriers with its new initiative – ‘Redrawing India’. It is a part of the channel’s ‘Redraw Your World’ campaign that aims at empowering children to go beyond and strive for change – big or small.

“The campaign is a catalyst that will show every child that they too have the power to redraw their world,” says Abhishek Dutta, South Asia Network Head, Cartoon Network and POGO. “India is brimming with talent, and kids are its future,” he adds.

Six amazing kids; six epic stories

Cartoon Network has given a stage to six unique stories as they are leading change, breaking down barriers and redefining dreams. While Prasiddhi and Ridhima are making the planet a better place, Hemesh Chadalavada aims to make it a kinder and smart one.

Hemesh, 15, wanted to serve the community and developed useful gadgets and apps for the disabled and elderly. These include a wristband, a smart seatbelt, an accident notifier, and even a robot.

Some kids think out of the box, and then others believe there isn’t a box at all. They defy the odds to emerge successful. One such kid is Shrawan Sewa from Pokhriabong, Darjeeling, who met with an accident in which he almost lost his voice. He did not let it come in his way and because of his relentless hard work, today, he is a beatboxer and is living his dream of becoming a music artist.

The result of following your dreams is a success, as Janvi Jindal and Brishant Rai believe.

When Janvi, who is now a national champion in freestyle roller skating, would fall countless times while she skated, her dad would say “Beta, girogi nahi, toh seekhogi nahi.” (You won’t learn if you don’t fall.) Today, she is famous for her Bhangra on wheels routine. A national champion, Janvi was recognised by the ‘India Book of Records in 2020, as the ‘Youngest to perform Bhangra on skates’.

On the other hand, 13-year-old Brishant Rai is a self-taught footballer. Growing up in Darjeeling, he would watch football matches and observe popular players on television. At the age of four, he decided if they could do it, he could too. Now Brishant is the captain of his school team and an inspiration for everyone in his village.

These diverse stories showcase that it is important to believe in yourself and redraw the world the way you want it.
