Cannes has always gained a lot of momentum in India. It is, after all, called the Mecca of movies by many. This year, India won a couple of accolades including the FIPRESCI award for the movie Masaan.
And now, we have Zanane Rajsingh with his first directorial venture ‘Beyond Blue – An Unnerving Tale of a Demented Mind’.

The movie premiered at the 68th Festival de Cannes, Marche du Film 2015. The film is produced by Rajesh Kumar Acharya and written and directed by Rajsingh, who is from Indore. It is a psychological thriller and an Indo-realism genre film. The film revolves around the life of a young man driven to madness after the death of his mother.
However, what is intriguing is that 27-year old Zanane is perhaps the youngest ever directorial débutante at the prestigious Cannes.
The film explores the dynamics of the protagonist’s mind in the quest of his innermost desire in finding the perfect home-cooked food to replicate his beloved dead mother’s culinary expertise.
The film stars Tushar Pandey, Isheta Sarckar, Dipti Joshi, Vikas Rathod and Deep Dholakia, in which Pandey plays the office-going protagonist. It is set in Ahmedabad and was shot there within a month in September 2014. The length of the movie is about 90 minutes and it is tentatively scheduled for a commercial release in November 2015.
