VIDEO: This Is Probably The Best “Happy” Video We Have Seen So Far

This peppy video starring young guns from Noida Deaf Society dancing to the tune of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” will make your day. While it’s difficult enough for a person who can hear the song also to dance to it, these young performers make it look so effortless!

“Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof. Clap along if you feel that happiness is the truth. Because I am happy…” And we clapped every time!

Remember the lines which everyone was humming a short while back and nobody could resist breaking out into dance to?

NDS3

But dancing to this tune is not as easy as it looks. This video looks like any other “happy” video. But what makes it unique is the people who star in it.

The video was made to influence perceptions and bring about a positive change in how deaf people are viewed by society.

99 percent of the people starring in this video are 100% deaf. Yet, they can feel the vibrations and many turned out to be excellent dancers! They also sign the lyrics of the song using Indian Sign Language, which is now becoming popular in the country.

Thanks to Noida Deaf Society (NDS) which made it possible and made the moves look so effortless and amazing.

Check out these rockstars at their best –

Most deaf students in India drop out of the formal education system because it is unable to cope with their communication needs. While NDS has given a new lease of life to hearing impaired youth, making them employable and slowly but surely integrating them into the mainstream, being deaf is still considered a stigma in India.

NDS has been extensively working with people with hearing disabilities. You can learn more about their amazing work here and here.

This video was conceptualized & directed by Stanley Rego and originally published by Noida Deaf Society here. Thank you for the video tip, Merril Diniz.
