Ghaziabad Fire: Pregnant Mom Rescues Her 4 Kids Before Succumbing to the Blaze

Nothing comes close to the unconditional love that mothers have for their children. And when it comes to ensuring their safety, they will stop at nothing.

In a tragic incident that took place in Loni, Ghaziabad on Thursday, Fatima, a 27-year-old old woman, lost her life while saving all her children from a fire in their building. She was eight months pregnant.

The family lived on the first floor and ran a bakery on the ground floor. Sometime in the afternoon, two LPG cylinders exploded on the ground floor, which led to a massive fire.

While Fatima and the children were trapped above, her husband and his brothers were trying to contain the fire.

Due to her pregnancy, Fatima couldn’t move very swiftly, but she soon realised that the fire wasn’t dying down. Noticing that several people were standing on the street, she decided to throw her kids into their arms.

One by one she threw her kids down, but unfortunately, she fainted before she could escape because she had inhaled too much smoke by then.

What is even more heartbreaking is that before anyone could rush to rescue Fatima, the building collapsed on the young woman and she did not survive.

Speaking to The Better India, Inspector Sanjeev Varma from Loni police station stated that a short-circuit in the electrical set up in the bakery had resulted in the initial fire. Consequently, after the LPG cylinders in the pantry exploded, it blazed out of control.

“The young woman was trapped by the grill of the first floor, from where she flung all of her four kids down to safety. She succumbed almost immediately after the building collapsed. Her two older children have sustained severe injuries, while the younger ones escaped with minor injuries,” he adds.

We offer our deepest condolences to Fatima’s family and are also in awe of the young woman’s bravery.

A true hero in every sense, her selfless act exemplifies the absolute love that every mother holds for her children.

Rest in peace, Fatima.
