Attention, Students! Govt to Provide Free Coaching For JEE, NEET Exams From 2019

The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) and NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) are some of the toughest entrance exams in India. Each year, millions of students take the two tests to gain admission into engineering and architecture courses, or medical and dental colleges, respectively.

There are also several lakh coaching centres, to help students hit their dream ranks in the exams.

The coaching industry consists of thousands of service providers, many of whom screen their students with their own entrance tests, before allowing them to undergo coaching. Then comes the astronomical fees for the coaching!

Well, to curb this growing burden on aspiring students, the government, via the National Testing Agency (NTA), will now help students get access to free coaching for higher education tests. The NTA will be converting its 2,697 test practice centres into teaching centres from next year, reports The Times of India.

An official from the HRD Ministry quoted in the publication said that those who attend the test centre will not be charged any fees, so it will be very beneficial for talented students who require financial assistance. What’s more, candidates from rural and semi-urban areas will also benefit, with the teaching component of the plan expected to start from May 2019. The practice centres, on the other hand, will start working on September 8th, 2018.

For the upcoming JEE-2019, the NTA will allow aspirants to sit for a mock test. This can help students analyse their preparation with NTA mentors, and rectify their errors. Further, teachers at the centre will help students with concepts and common mistakes.

The NTA will launch a mobile application and websites for registration on September 1, 2018. Applicants can choose their test slots and locations on the app and use the opportunity to better prepare for the actual exam.

The HRD official told the publication that until now, there has been no mock test for the NEET-UG, as it is not a computer-based test. At noon on September 1, the online registration process for UGC-NET 2018, and JEE-Main will also open, and continue till September 30th.

Well, for the hordes of students who write these exams, free help from the government might make their dreams come true!
