#KodaguFloods: Watch NDRF Officer Risk Life to Save Toddler in Nerve-Wracking Rescue!

Kodagu, Karnataka has been witnessing heavy rainfall for the past four days, and at least six people have died in the last 36 hours in the region, reports NDTV.

The Army, Navy and Air Force, along with the state government, are engaged in relief operations in regions where the rain has caused landslides.

The damaged roads have severely affected connectivity, electricity, water supply and mobile networks.

After conducting an aerial survey of the district, HD Kumaraswamy, the Karnataka CM, announced that an amount of Rs 5 lakh would be given to the families of the deceased and free treatment will be offered to the injured. A total of Rs. 100 crore has been sanctioned for relief work in Kodagu.

The CM also said that the government has stationed 948 personnel from the Army Engineering Task Force, Dogra regiment, Indian Navy, National Disaster Response Force, fire and emergency services, home guards and civil defence. Additionally, 200 NCC cadets, are also helping in relief and rescue work.

Boats are being used to rescue stranded folks, and an Air Force helicopter has been deployed to airlift people and distribute food and water. Additionally, Earthmovers have been employed round the clock to clear debris caused by the landslides.

In this gloomy situation, there are a few instances that are a bright spot of sunshine.

Last week, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescue officer Kanayya Kumar, won praise from all across the country after a video of him running across the bridge with a child in his arms went viral. Yesterday morning, yet another NDRF official rescued a two-month-old baby in Kodagu. The officer was seen carrying the baby in his arms as he ziplined over a river of destruction. You can watch it here.

The moving video of the heroic rescue has been widely shared across social media to inspire others to come forward and help in every possible way.
