We all are a part of WhatsApp groups. There is always that one large family group, a group for work, and another one to discuss well, anything under the sun.
According to the Financial Express, the Railways has finally jumped on the bandwagon of instant communications, and is all set to monitor cleanliness in trains, amongst other things, using WhatsApp groups.
Pantry, bed linen or any other department, will have its own WhatsApp group, on which daily status reports will be shared.
Vishwesh Chaube, General Manager, Northern Railways said that these groups would ensure the monitoring of pantry cleanliness, bedrolls, and air-conditioner functionality. Photographs uploaded into the group will be looked into by senior officials.
The Railways has also decided to use recycled water, to wash coaches, and an automatic coach washing plant at the Hazrat Nizamuddin station is touted to wash a 24-coach train in just eight minutes. The plant will use only 240 litres of water to wash a coach, as opposed to around 1,500 litres, in the case of manual washing. According to Mr Chaube, the unit will use 20% fresh water, and 80% recycled water.

Here’s what the automatic machine will do-
It will clean the coach using vacuum cleaners, jet cleaning machines, and scrubbers. Appropriate branded chemicals will replace phenyl, and mosquito repellents will keep the nuisance away. Air fresheners will be used to ensure that the train always smells good.
We hope that the carrier can leverage WhatsApp and provide a superior experience to passengers.
