Uttarakhand Cop Carries Heart Attack-Stricken Pilgrim Uphill For 2 Km on Back!

Once again, a policeman from Uttarakhand is in the news for the right reasons. Last month, it was Sub-Inspector Gagandeep Singh. In a video which went viral on social media, SI Gagandeep is seen shielding a young man from a bloodthirsty mob, all by himself.

This time, it is Sub-Inspector Lokendra Bahuguna from the Barkot police station in Uttarkashi district, who carried a 55-year-old pilgrim suffering from a mild heart attack on his back for two kilometres uphill.

Thanks to his efforts, Ranjhi Rajag, a pilgrim from Madhya Pradesh received timely medical attention. According to the Press Trust of India, Rajag had collapsed in front of a temple following his arrival at the Yamunotri shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas on Wednesday morning.

Rajag’s family had initially sought to take him on horseback to the Yamunotri Seasonal Hospital for immediate medical treatment. Unfortunately, he was unable to sit steadily on the horse, and that’s when SI Bahuguna decided to carry him on his back.

“With Mr Rajag on his back, the Sub Inspector walked two km uphill to the hospital where the pilgrim was treated for four hours before being discharged,” Barkot police station in-charge Vinod Thapliyal told PTI.

The cop’s actions have garnered much appreciation from the family. Moments after he was discharged, Rajag personally thanked SI Bahuguna, and both men prayed at the shrine with the former’s family.
