The frequency with which chain snatching occurs in India is so high that there is a possibility that someone you know might have been robbed today. Believe it or not, the nexus of chain snatchers in every city and town in India is larger and more expansive than you could possibly reckon.
Additionally, it is nowhere close to easy when it comes to catching the thieves or even track a lost possession. Only in very rare scenarios does registering a police complaint yield any positive outcome.
Fortunately for Saraswathy, who was travelling in a local KSRTC bus near Alappuzha and happened to be robbed of her 28-gram gold chain, help wasn’t too far away!
It was the lady bus conductor, PR Suja, who came to Saraswathy’s rescue and fearlessly managed to not just nab the two women robbers, Kavita and Sarasu, but also retrieve the necklace, reports Mathrubhumi, a local Malayalam daily.
The incident had occurred on Thursday afternoon last week when the bus was heading towards the Kollam jetty from Alappuzha’s KSRTC depot. As soon as the robbers managed to nick Saraswathy’s chain, they got off the bus and attempted to flee.

However, Suja wasn’t going to let the conniving women escape that easily, even when most passengers remained passive spectators to the whole spectacle.
Stopping the bus, Suja gave the duo a good chase before some locals alerted the Alapuzha South police, who managed to nab the women.
The thieves, who were identified as natives of Tamil Nadu, were produced before the court and remanded under custody for their crime.
It is admirable how Suja spared no wasteful minute in deciding what to do as every passing second was crucial and what is even more impressive is the fact that she could have gotten herself in serious trouble for partaking in the gallant pursuit.
But all’s well that ends well—for Suja who is now a local hero and for Saraswathy, who got her prized possession back.
