Defying Stiff opposition, Bengaluru Folks Help Visually-Impaired Couple Tie the Knot!

25th March 2018 marked the most memorable day in the lives of visually-impaired couple KM Kiran and Basamma B Udakari.

Kiran and Udakrai met for the first time, eight years ago when they both started working for the Samarthanam BPO run by a Bengaluru-based Samarthanam trust for the disabled. They fell in love soon after.

Despite a lack of support in their own family to take their eight-year-long relationship one step forward, the couple stood undeterred.

In the face of initial opposition from their own near and dear ones, the Samarthanam trust came forward to fill the void and decided to get the couple married.

The trust empowers persons with disabilities through quality education, accommodation, nutritious food, vocational training, placement-based rehabilitation etc. to help them achieve personal independence.

Gathered at Samarthanam HSR Layout premises in Bengaluru on Sunday, the wedding was nothing short of a beautiful affair reported the Times of India.

While Kiran donned a vibrant orange and yellow saree complete with bangles, a maang tikka, earrings, necklace and kamar patta – the bridegroom donned a lovely sherwani.

The couple were joined in matrimony and vowed to support each other in the presence of their colleagues, staff and friends and were blessed by Mahantesh G K, Founder and Managing Trustee of Samarthanam.

It is indeed beautiful to see a Trust care so much for its employees to make them feel a part of the family. We wish Kiran and Udakari a very happy and prosperous married life!
