Travelling to Goa on a Shoestring Budget? The State Will Make It Cheaper for You!

Most of us have made a plan to visit Goa with our friends at least once, and it is entirely possible that the plan never saw the light of the day!

Although there is no shortage of hotels and homestay facilities in the coastal state, not everyone has a budget to afford these and more often than not; these trips end up just being a dream.

But fret not, you could actually plan a trip soon to Goa without burning a hole in your pocket.

The state government has considered setting up a facility to cater to low budget travellers, where they can cook, camp and avail of sanitary provisions.

As reported in the Times of India, Manohar Parrikar, the CM of Goa, made this announcement during the Zero Hour. He said, “All tourists do not put up at hotels. There will be always certain sections that will come with a lower budget. We are identifying places where people can cook and camp. There will also be toilet facilities on the site. Arrangements to clean the area will also be made.”

Alongside, the state intends to put together a special squad that will keep a check on the trashing of public spaces by tourists and take necessary action against the offenders.

Early in 2001, the Goa Tourist Places (Protection and Maintenance) Act had been passed to eradicate issues that were posing threats to its booming tourism sector. Parrikar intends to amend the act and specify various types of public nuisances.

As much as the state authorities are trying to make the state more budget-friendly, we must also act responsibly as tourists and refrain from littering or defacing the region.

So, don’t give up on that Goa trip and start saving!
